Year of the Pig
Given that we have partners all over APAC region, we thought it would be relevant to dish out some interesting facts about the Year of the Pig to those interested in doing business in China and anywhere else in Asia.
The value of the Chinese New Year to businesses and individuals all around the world need not be overly explained. With one-third of the world’s population celebrating the festival, it is no wonder that even offices explore fun ways to soak in the festivities.
Unlike the Western style of New Year celebrations on 1st of January, Chinese New Year is marked by all sorts of practices that are believed to be auspicious for the upcoming year called 农历新年 (nónglìxīnnián – Lunar New Year) or 春节 (chūnjié – Spring Festival).
It is customary for people to greet each other with New Year well-wishes which bring in blessings for the coming year.
This new year marks the beginning of yet another Year of the Pig. The Chinese New Year Day is to be celebrated on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. The New Year day is also the first lunar day. The fifth lunar day of the Chinese New Year festival is the Welcome Day for the God of the Wealth. This date is Saturday, February 9, 2019. In the Chinese culture, pigs symbolise wealth
and are perceived to be a sign of good fortune. We hope to embody the prosperity of the pig and will continue working towards providing you with high-quality services. Swivelt would like to wish you a very hearty Happy Chinese New Year. May you be successful and prosperous 恭喜发财(gōngxǐfācái)!
